Basketball Stamp, April 14, 1934

This is the world’s first postage stamp on the game of basketball. This “basketball stamp” is part of a set of 3 (or 5) stamps which was issued by the Philippine post office (U.S. Administration period) to publicize the 10th Far Eastern Championship Games.

 

Carabao Stamp, May 3, 1932

This is the Philippines’ first postage stamp which featured the carabao. This “carabao stamp” is part of a set of 7 stamps.

 

Horse Stamps, December 2, 1949

These are the first “horse stamps” of the Republic period in Philippine postage history. The stamps' design shows Gen. Gregorio del Pilar riding on a horse.

 

Horse Stamps, February 15, 1935

These stamps are the Philippines’ first postage stamps on horse. The stamps show George Washington riding on a horse (U.S. Administration period).

 

Jose Rizal Stamp, September 8, 1906

This is the Philippines’ first postage stamp on Jose Rizal. This “Jose Rizal stamp” is part of a set of 14 stamps.

 

Manuel L. Quezon Stamp, May 1, 1947

This is the first “Quezon stamp” of the Republic period in Philippine postage history.

 

President Manuel L. Quezon Stamps, November 15, 1936

These stamps are the Philippines’ first postage stamps on Manuel L. Quezon. This postage issue is a set of 3 stamps which was released by the post office to commemorate the first anniversary of the Philippine Commonwealth.

 

Queen Isabela II Stamp, 1854

This is the first postage stamp of the Philippines which was issued when the Philippines was under Spanish colonial administration.

 

Sampaguita Stamp, December 8, 1948

This is the first “flower stamp” of the Republic period in Philippine postage history. The title of the issue is “Flower Day, Sampaguita.”
