Philippine Elections 2013: Keeping the Status Quo

More than a century has passed since the Filipinos got so extremely fascinated with the ideas of freedom and democracy. It was in the Philippines that one of the earliest (if not the earliest) democratic form of government was established. However, it took two more wars of independence before we finally achieved full independence. Since then, the Filipinos’ love for democratic processes continued and this was most obvious during the elections. It was also this fascination for things democratic that led them to believe that martial rule was the right thing to do during the early 1970’s. It was decision that proved to be nothing more than a national form of self-degradation. Yet, it was also this love for democracy that led to the “People Power” revolution of 1986, a bloodless and generally peaceful revolution that captured the hope and imagination of people the world over. And it is my opinion that this revolution appears to have a profound impact on world politics for the last 25 years.

Today, May 13, 2013, my countrymen will cast their votes and decide on the fate of the nation for the next few years. No one can know what will be the real consequences of their actions. The outcome may be for moral renewal or pragmatic materialism, for sustainable development or conservation, for corruption or redemption, for better or for worse. Whatever the consequences, my countrymen will go out and vote, and by doing so, they will reaffirm the status of the Philippines as the bastion of democracy in Asia. There’s nothing quite like it in Asia for the past 117 years.

Many and various photos of several countries have been uploaded and posted on the "Home Extension" section. Look for the topic "Places," which also can be found in the "Selected Topics" subsection.

Website Update

The "Philippines: Part III - Text Document and Photo Blog Documents" has just been revised, particularly the "My Blog, My Philippines" documents. The newly-uploaded documents are "Word Document 2010" version. A lot of things are new because of this version, but the contents remain the same with rare exceptions. The "chapter document" on Philippine Topical Stamps has been deleted and no new version will be uploaded until I am able to make use of it in making a section for it in this site or a separate website. The document "Philippines Stamps and Topical Collecting Version 2010-2011" may be deleted in the future as a result of this activity.

Part III of the site, Text Documents and Photo Blog Documents, has just been edited. A number of documents contained some items that were not in their right page, but everything now is alright. You can download them for personal, non-commercial and educational purposes.

The Home Extension is currently being improved. You can also download the documents in this section. Lots of good things in this section.

Website Updates

The Home Extension is currently being improved. I have added a lot of things in this section. Specifically, I added some things in the Psychology sub-section and introduced the topic of philately in the Various Selected Topics sub-section.

May I advise you to adjust your laptaps and computers in case the images of stamps amd other philatelic materials are too light or too dark.

More items will be added in Parts IV, V and VI of the site as well as in the Home Extension section.
