Luke 1:26-27 and 30
Luke 1:26-27 and 30

“The angel of the Lord called to Abraham from heaven a second time, ’I make a vow by my own name - the Lord is speaking - that I will richly bless you. Because you did this and did not keep back your only son from me, I promise that I will give you as many descendants as there are stars in the sky or grains of sand along the seashore….’” (Genesis 22:15-17 / TEV)

“Gideon then realized that it was the Lord’s angel he had seen, and he said in terror, ’Sovereign Lord! I have seen your angel face-to-face!’ But the Lord told him, ’Peace. Don’t be afraid. You will not die.’ Gideon built an altar to the Lord there and named it ’The Lord is Peace.’” (Judges 6:22-24 / TEV)

“…there was a man named Manoah…His wife had never been able to have children. The Lord’s angel appeared to her and said, ’You have never been able to have children, but you will be soon be pregnant and have a son. Be sure not to drink any wine or beer, or eat any forbidden fruit; and after your son is born, you must never cut his hair, because from the day of his birth he will be dedicated to God as a nazirite.’” (Judges 13:2-5 / TEV)

“The Lord’s angel returned and woke him up a second time, saying, ’Get up and eat, or the trip will be too much for you.’ Elijah got up, ate and drank, and the food gave him enough strength to walk for forty days to Sinai, the holy mountain. There he went into a cave to spend the night. Suddenly the Lord spoke to him, ’Elijah, what are you doing here?’” (1 Kings 19:7-9 / TEV)

“The Lord’s angel camps around the Lord’s loyal followers and delivers them. Taste and see that the Lord is good! How blessed is the one who takes shelter in him!” (Psalm 34:7-8 / NET)

“…I saw the sovereign master seated on a high, elevated throne. The hem of his robe filled the temple. Seraphs stood over him; each one had six wings. With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and they used the remaining two to fly. They called out to one another, ’Holy, holy, holy is the Lord who commands armies! His majestic splendor fills the entire earth!’ The sound of their voices shook the door frames and the temple was filled with smoke.” (Isaiah 6:1-4 / NET)

“For the Son of Man will come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done.” (Matthew 16:27 / NET)

“See that you do not disdain one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.” (Matthew 18:10 / NET)

“When the Son of Man comes as King and all the angels with him, he will sit on his royal throne, and the people of all the nations will be gathered before him. Then he will divide them into two groups, just as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. He will put the righteous people at his right and the others at his left.” (Matthew 25:31-33 / TEV)

“But in those days, following that distress, ’the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’ At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.” (Mark 13:24-27 / NIV ®)

“…the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, a descendant of David, and the virgin’s name was Mary…. the angel said to her, Do not be afraid,  Mary, for you have found favor with God! Listen: You will become pregnant and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus. He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will never end.’ Mary said to the angel, ’How will this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?’ The angel replied, ’The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be holy; he will be called the Son of God. (Luke 1:26-27 and 30-35 / NET)

“That night there were shepherds staying in the fields nearby, guarding their flocks of sheep. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared among them, and the radiance of the Lord’s glory surrounded them. They were terrified, but the angel reassured them, ’Don’t be afraid,’ he said. ’I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people. The Savior – yes, the Messiah, the Lord - has been born today in Bethlehem, the city of David!” (Luke 2:8-11 / NLT)

“Suddenly, the angel was joined by a vast host of others – the armies of heaven – praising God and saying, ’Glory to God in the highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.’” (Luke 2:13-14 / NLT)
